cafe capyba
cafe capyba (capybara cafe)
Higashi-Mukojima's cafe capyba (capybara cafe) invites guests to relax with a drink, gently brush friendly capybaras, and feed them fresh vegetable treats.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Set along a quiet residential lane in Hikifune, cafe capyba is an animal cafe where guests share an open room with slow-paced capybaras. The resident animals are calm and accustomed to people, allowing visitors to approach them quietly, stroke their backs, or groom them with small brushes. Fresh vegetable treats are available for purchase in the shop, and offering them by hand lets you watch the animals chew methodically at their own leisurely tempo.
While the cafe does not serve meals, each admission package includes a beverage so guests can settle in comfortably with tea in hand. Drinking from cups stamped with capybara motifs while watching the animals' unhurried movements makes for an unusually tranquil break.
Visits are scheduled primarily in 30-minute blocks and are arranged through advance time-slot reservations. Payment is accepted via major credit cards, PayPay, and contactless NFC mobile systems. It makes an endearing stop during a wander through the historic Higashi-Mukojima neighbourhood.
